Who enflamed the blaze behind your gaze?
Was it my opinion or your draining days?
You throw your wrath like shards of glass
But I'm the friend who tends to your scars
I spoke heartily when silence felt unjust
I raised my voice in solidarity and trust
You asked me to stay out of all your fight
I withdrew so you could use all your might
Now your sorrows wear a borrowed face
Yet I am the mask you berate and deface
I am not the cause of your aching wound
Nor am I the threads that fate had tuned
I miss the real you everyone used to know
Before your world turned into ice and snow
You were the hub of joy, the light, the flame
Now everything feels like bowing to shame
You admit that I drown you with my peace
That my words make your suffering cease
I am not the tide that is pulling you down
Nor am I a cloak disguised as a real gown
Who are you angry at, my gracious friend?
Is it me who spoke the truth until the end?
Or the forked tongue, but with a false face?
So think before you choose who to replace
Dedicated To Everyone:
Who has ever lost the shoulder they once leaned on, the face they once trusted without question, the friend who felt like family, and the place that once felt like home.
Eduvie is back)) i am very excited! i mean this is fab cos it relate to everyone, am posting this. nice one!
ReplyDeletevery powerful poem, the only question most people i know including me are afraid to ask. Mr Poet, i have a question, what if i ask the question and they do not respond at all? i have friends i very want to ask or it is not important to ask them now? please answer to me. Tnx)
ReplyDeleteWell, if you feel the question pressing against your heart, then it is important, because importance is not measured by their reply, but by your need to ask. If you feel it is not yet time, then let the question rest like a seed in the soil. In my experience, seeds do not demand immediate bloom, they wait for the right season. I hope this helps, Ms Anonymous.
DeleteMaster, in the poem it said i am not the cause of your aching wound. what if they know you are not cause but they are still angry at you? i have plenty to say oo but that part touched my soul sha.
ReplyDeleteBoss, story of my life but i leave eerything 4 God hand. just imagine say na my own sister same papa same mama oo but life goes on. God bless you sir.
ReplyDeleteSo think before you choose who to replace is gonna be my response to anybody who is angry at me for my opinion even if you are my family because my peace of mind is more important for me. Master class poetry for the brightest minds. Well done Eduvie ππ
ReplyDeleteSometimes we get Angry not at what the person did but cause it shouldn’t have come from that person. Sometimes if we are to really ask ourselves who we’re really angry at is actually the situation
ReplyDeleteI get what you mean, sometimes it’s not really about the action itself, but about who it came from. Deep down, we’re often more upset with the situation than the person. And if that’s the case, why vent our anger on people who aren’t the real cause of the problem? It only misplaces the frustration and risks hurting those who don’t deserve it.
DeleteThe man Eduvie is always filled with inspiration and wisdom
ReplyDeleteIf I did it once and it's not showing, I will repost my comment for a job well-done by you. This is suiting and lovely. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteA friend should never be angry with the opinions of their friends but some people like to blame others for their failures in life. Our world is sad place to please everybody. Well done, Master Poet!
ReplyDeleteAnger the destroyer of relationships if not well managed. Thanks for sharing this. You are truly gifted Eduvie
